divana Invites You to Explore a New Perspective on Wellness & Sustainability
Can Luxury and Sustainability Truly Go Hand in Hand?
As the world faces environmental challenges and constant change, the term “Sustainability” has gained prominence. It is more than just a buzzword or trend. Awareness leads to action, making sustainability a tangible reality, especially in business sectors connected to health and lifestyle.
divana: Luxury in Harmony with Sustainability
The concept of wellness connects urban people with nature, fostering a deeper understanding of ourselves and the natural world through holistic health practices. This encompasses the seven senses: sight, taste, smell, sound, touch, spirit, and imagination—central to divana (Divana), which focuses on balancing the body and delving into the mind (Well-Being). It integrates luxury (Luxury) with sustainability (Sustainability) to achieve Wellness for Longevity—a meaningful outcome that not only encourages self-care but also fosters care for nature and the planet.
“Sustainability is not an option. It is a function, a responsibility, and a way of life for all of us. We must start by being aware and valuing what we use and produce—how to maximize value while minimizing resources. How can we reuse or recycle? It all starts with our mindset, with small actions, starting from ourselves,” said Tong-Thanes Chirasewakdilok, Co-Founder, divana.
With a commitment to sustainability, divana invites everyone to explore the potential of Wellness & Sustainability through insights from experts in health, fashion, and travel, sharing experiences and perspectives on Sustainable Luxury Beauty & Conscious Living during the Well for Earth Talk on the topic “Can Wellness Businesses Truly Align with Sustainability?”
The session began with Mali-Kamolrat Chayamarit, owner of the eco-friendly flower shop “Maliban”. A descendant of botanists, she chooses to go against industry trends. While many understand the environmental impact of fashion or food industries, few realize the flower industry also significantly affects the environment, especially biodiversity.
“We only use flowers grown in Thailand, sourced responsibly, and seasonal, eliminating chemical dependence and reducing imports and transportation, thus conserving energy. We avoid plastic completely. A major problem in the flower industry is the use of green floral foam (Oasis) which people mistake for organic, but it’s actually microplastic and phenolic resin that eventually pollutes the oceans.
For Mali, luxury means having time, without rush. She encourages younger generations to slow down, which may be challenging in urban life. Slowing down allows us to pause before purchasing, enabling self-healing from within. When we achieve emotional balance, Wellness for Longevity naturally follows.”
Pornpol Huvanand, CEO and founder of Moreloop, a circular economy business, discussed sustainability trends in the fashion industry aiming for Net Zero emissions. Moreloop faced challenges with idle fabric stocks in factories, so they act as a mediator—similar to Airbnb—repurposing unused fabrics to reduce water and resource consumption throughout production processes.
Thanks to divana valuing existing resources, idle fabrics have been transformed into items for the global Wellness Luxury business, including uniforms. By reusing materials, divana has reduced carbon emissions by 10 tons of CO2e, equivalent to driving 80,000 km or circling the globe twice.
Meanwhile, Pai-Somsak Boonkham, Founder of Local Alike, a social enterprise promoting sustainable tourism, highlighted that tourism is vulnerable, especially post-COVID-19. Thailand’s potential in wellness tourism allows travelers to experience nature and rejuvenate, demonstrating the shared essence of wellness and travel.
We must also give back to nature to ensure sustainability. How can tourism minimize carbon emissions and increase greenery while benefiting local communities? The goal is sustainable tourism—not just economic gain, but responsible care for society and the environment, aligning with divana’s approach.
Finally, Tong-Thanes Chirasewakdilok, Co-Founder of divana, shared the brand’s direction in sustainable Wellness Luxury, emphasizing three values: Wellness, Nature, and Hospitality. In celebration of divana’s 25th anniversary, they launched the innovative Scentology: Plant Based Perfume Oil with five signature scents inspired by natural phenomena, blending fragrance expertise with sustainability, demonstrating that Sustainable Luxury is achievable.
“We need to shift from being mere consumers to creators. We are all One Power. When focusing on health, we must ask: Does it strengthen our body? Does it nurture our mind? Does it stabilize our emotions? Can we create positive impacts for society? By leading by example and building networks, we can improve the ecosystem together and pass a better world to future generations,” Tong-Thanes concluded.
Experience Wellness Luxury—luxury that embraces sustainability—and pamper your body and soul with divana’s products that benefit both people and the planet, including Organic Skin Care, Body Oil, Plant Based Hand Cream, Perfume Oil, Aromatherapy Oil, Essential Oil, Room Fragrance, Aroma Candle, and Thai Massage Oil at the divana 25th Years Phenomenon of Scent event at Sphere Gallery 1, M Floor, Emsphere, from today until February 9, 2025.
